End of the Quarter Blog

This was a fun class, and I learned a lot about how to be a better writer.  I learned how to get my information and to equally distribute it within my essays and papers.  The old me would start at the beginning of my paper and list all the information I have, and for the rest of the paper I would stay on the same subject and try to come up with the pages.  Now I know that their needs to be and intro with a thesis, that states your three main points you want to talk about in your paper, you body, which has to explain your three main points, and the conclusion, which sums it all up.  Having this format for my essay helps out  because it helps me to keep my notes and information organized on paper.  Also Mrs. Boland helped me out a lot by showing me different ways to write and showing me how to look for more then one source for my paper.  This course will help out a lot for my future classes to come where i have to write essays, because i will be so used to writing them by then that they will come second nature and be easy and done in the right manner.  Besides learning to write this class also helped me to read and understand my material further.  Usually when i would read i would get the idea, but i wouldn't take it further and annotate and get in depth with that paper until now.  This class taught me how to, overall, become a better writing and reader which is going to be a great help as a continue with my college career.

My weekend

This weekend was ok, not like all the other weekends here. Friday all i did was go to class then me and my friend went to see the Watchmen movie with my bestfriend. It was interesting, alot of nuidity and hardcore violence but other then that it was good. After that we went back to the dorms and i cleaned my room which needed a really good clean up. Then i went to bed early cause i didnt feel good. The next day I got to sleep in so i woke up took a shower and just relaxed all day but later that day my sister called and wanted to go to dinner, she came and picked me up, because i dont have a car anymore due to a recent accident, and we went to Vinces spaghetti, it was good. After that we just at in her room and watched movies, got ice cream later. The next morning i had to wake up early cause my parents wanted to go to the swap meet and they leave at like 9 in the morning. So while we were waiting for my friend to get there we ate but unfortunately my friend couldnt go so it was just me and my parents. It was fun though i got alot of cool stuff for a cheap price after that my mom sister and dad took me to dinner and then home. It was a pretty fun weekend but hopefully next week will be alot more better.

Research Papers...

Usually I'm not a big fan of research papers, but when i went online to look for some i got a lot of really good ideas that i could write about.  I got a lot of information on gang violence, religion, music, dance, and singing, and many more.  When I looked at it the first time I was interested ion three options, gang violence, dance, and music.  I thought that those would be the more interesting field to research.

Essay #2

In the reading, "no place like home," the author Guterson express' that maybe living in suburbia is not always the dream.  People think of the perfect society as everyone knowing each other and being happy and safe in their own neighborhood.  Community living is getting harder and harder for people because the city has control of everything you want to do with your house.  Some people see this as a sense of security but when do they go too far to make sure your house meet their requirements.

In previous free-write assignments we have done in class, we have talked about our dream homes and where we would love to live.  People's ideal of a dream home can vary.  Some like the idea of a gated community because it can give off a sense of safety and security.  Others don't like the idea of the city deciding everything a person can and can not do with their own home.  It can get to the point where it is a little creepy how these neighborhoods could get.  The streets look dead and no one is outside.  This is because everyone parks in their garage due to more rules they have to follow.  To an outsider this could look really weird.  They need to have less rules and let home owners do more with theri house since they are the ones paying for it.  In turn this would make everyone happy and more people would want to live there.

My Place!!!

The place i live now is fun and make me feel free to do whatever i want.  Even though there are some rules i pretty much go by whatever i want.  I live here at the dorms at CSUSB, with my three roommates/teammates.  Its nice to live away from home and learn new responsibilities.  Even though it is way harder to get food or money.  But it teaches you how to be responsible for everything you do and have to be smarter with things like money, and what you do.
Even though i get some of my schooling payed for its hard to live on your own.  You dont have mommy there to hold you hand.  Sometimes you need that and, in other ways its good because you get a sense of freedom.  I think San Bernardino is a pretty city, its right by the mountains and outside my window is the prettiest view ever!  Whenever im mad or sad or just dont know what to do about something i can look out my window and it calms me down.  Its also good to live with friends, they make me take my mind off alot of stuff. I love living here, its perfect.

Where I'm From

I am from the Carty's,
from wow your tall and do you play sports?
I am from the tall olive tree with the tire swing,
(until my parents cut it down.)
Im from luncamh with the family in the back yard,
from chips on our sandwhich.
I am from staying in your bathing suit all day in summer,
from long naps with my mommy.
I am from family over all the time just to hang.

I am from Cherokee, Sioux, and Apache,
from strong family heritage and love.
I am from the south, west, east, and north,
from Tennessee to Cali.
I am from the windows and winders,
from the wash and warsh.
I am from soccer balls to volleyballs,
from a family of baseballs, footballs, and basketballs.

I am from the Go Fords!! and screw Chevys,
from granpa working on his old cars all day.
I am from holding memories in boxes under my bed,
from bad times but more of the good.
I am a reflection of where I am from.
